Welcome to Private Practice Possibilities

Why we are here:

You:  A compassionate, well-trained being just bursting with energy to get out there and help people.

Them:  Billions of people who are suffering.  Their suffering takes many forms from hellish despair to the “quiet desperation” of a life half-lived.

The problem: You guys don’t know how to reach each other.

Me:  For over a decade my wife and I have had a full—read: often wait listing clients—private practices.  We see the clients that we want, set out own schedules, and we, our children and our dog, Scout, enjoy the financial results.  We are truly living our dreams.

While some part of this blessed situation I want to recognize has something to do with luck, I have identified factors that greatly increase the probability of someone creating a similar “full to wait list” private practice.  I know this is the case because for years I have helped therapist create similarly wonderful lives.

I love the work of helping people realize their private practice dreams.  One way I look at this is helping people magically transform the impossible into the possible.  I often find that when therapists come to me they have tried many things to get their practices going, but have not really succeeded.  This has led them to come to the conclusion that creating an extraordinary private practice is just not possible.  Unfortunately there are no shortage of people—often well meaning people—ready to let them know that they are, indeed, pursuing an impossible dream.

I really appreciate that you did not let them talk you out of your dream.  You have overcome a great many internal and external obstacles to get to this webpage with your dream still—if not fully intact—at least still breathing as it were.  The purpose of this site is to make your impossible dream of creating an extraordinary private practice a reality.  Think of this site as a sort of Private Practice Design lab where you can find the ideas, tools, and other instruments of construction to build that wonderous private practice that you so long to create.

Good for you in having the courage to create your private practice.  And good for the people who you will greatly help.   Keep going—the world needs you.

I’m glad you are here.

Mike

p.s. You will hear me say this many many many many times, but having been someone who suffered for years from PPPD (postponing Private Practice Disorder) I want to make sure that reading this site does not become another way-albeit apparently productive way–of postponing what you know you must do.  So, what I would STRONGLY recommend, is that everytime you come to this site you do one SMALL step towards making your private practice a reality.  Could be a phone call, email, googling office space….

I ‘ll stop talking now.

And you stop reading.

And go do that one small thing.
